Drawing inspiration from the beautiful coastal environment, The Cedars Inn Restaurant strives to support the local food community by using as many local purveyors as possible. Using only the freshest ingredients, Chef Steve creates a varied and exciting menu, changing with the seasons.

Our chef is also happy to cater your special event, whether a wedding reception, corporate retreat, family reunion or whatever you have in mind. Please inquire about special menus and group rates and have a look at our “Special Events” tab for more details. We are also happy to accommodate that special event at lunch or dinner hours.
STEVE SMID joined The Cedars Inn & Restaurant in May 2012 when the long closed establishment was purchased and reopened with new owners. He has quickly made The Cedars a much sought out destination and a well regarded addition to the Beaufort food scene. Steve began cooking at the age of 15 and has continued his passion ever since. He came to us from the acclaimed Hampton's Restaurant of the J.H. Adams Inn in High Point, NC and we are pleased he has chosen the Crystal Coast as his new home, leaving behind the Piedmont/Triad area, where he was recently awarded a 4 star rating from the Greensboro News & Record.

Steve’s cuisine is a blend of Southern classics with a coastal influence, using only the freshest local ingredients. When not in the kitchen, Steve has been involved with several charities including Hospice of the Piedmont, James Beard Foundation, YWCA and United Way. He looks forward to sharing his food and hospitality with the people of Beaufort and those just passing through.
